Comprehensive Beginner’s Guide to Advertising on LinkedIn

Advertise on LinkedIn like a pro using this Greentrail Media guide

“Don’t second guess your professional first impression.” (Mitch Miles)

LinkedIn is a social network that focuses on professional networking and career development. Launched in 2003, LinkedIn is primarily centered around career networking, building, and sharing with other professionals, colleagues, potential clients and even competition.

LinkedIn marketing is the process of using LinkedIn to make connections, generate leads, improve brand awareness, foster business relationships and partnerships, share content, and drive traffic to your website.

As an advertising and marketing tool, LinkedIn has proven to be 277% more effective at lead generation than other social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, but this however depends on your target customer’s preferences, play/buy spot areas and choice of networking. However, users of LinkedIn are usually high-level decision makers, and this is of utmost importance.

Advertising on any platform, traditional or digital, takes a good understanding of the platform, whether the target audience are found there, good Return of Investment (ROI) using that platform and affordability. LinkedIn, when compared to other platforms, say Facebook and Pinterest, is however more costly to run, but the overall outcome is far more rewarding, because if done well, you can capture the attention of the key decision makers targeted.
